Anyone have any good loads yet?
Got some Lee dies, waiting on Hornady but in the mean time made a few pieces of 8.6.
Have to run them thru sonic cleaner but need to know if anyone has any loads other then Accurate 1680 until I get some, was hoping some loads with Hodgdon/IMR powders that’s mainly what I have on hand.

300 Blackout, 8.6 Blackout, 6.5 Creedmoor

So some advice to those who decide to go with this caliber. Yes you form the case from 6.5 Creedmoor which is .264, .338 is a big jump.
First thing I recommend is to at least size up to .308 before going to .338. Ive had some PMs about sizing; I run all my brass thru a .308 expander, trim and then size. Your 6.5 Creedmoor case will look this. I am trimming to 1.645 instead of 1.685 for a few pieces to see how much stretch I get on the first firing.

I’ve been curious on this, so, since 308 is the parent of 6.5cm, cant you just form 8.6 from 308 (very cheap and common brass) versus 6.5cm (3+ times as much cost and less common). Haven’t been able to find a legitimate answer or explanation why or why not.

I thought 6.5creedmor parent case was the 30TC

I haven’t tried any yet but I was also hoping to use .308. What I have found from other guys is you can but you’ll have to turn the neck most likely.
Neck diameter is .370 for 8.6 and some .308 brass will need turned, I guess some 6.5 brass is gonna require some neck turning too. So far I haven’t had any Hornady 6.5 brass that’s not in spec after forming.

Ah. Gotcha. Yeah I formed some 6.5cm from the 308 and all was good to go, BUT 3/50 cases I did would not chamber due to necks needing turned. But, given I have a near limitless supply of 308, and a limited supply of 6.5cm, if I do the 8.6 I may buy a neck turner

Same boat as you, have a ton of .308, only have 700 new and once fired 6.5. I’ll be selling some stuff to get a neck turner soon, I’ll need it any ways one day
