What are ya'll using powder wise to push a 124 grain bullet to 1200ish? Be a 4.6" to 5" barrel.

I've got some 124 grain RMR FMJ's and want to push them around 1200 FPS. Hodgdon's publishes data stops at 1030ish with 4.4 grains of 231/HP-38.

That's what I have on hand now.

Thanks in advance OSA

I used BE-86 with a Berry's 124 HBFP to 1104, wasn't even trying to push it and the load data shows it could get close to 1200 with standard pressure.
Then I switched to True Blue and AA7 and started playing with 147 grain bullets. AA7 really picks up steam in the longer barrels; I was shocked to see my chronograph when from a 16" carbine, I was getting 1300 fps average with a 147 grain plated bullet.
I really like True Blue though. I flows so nicely through my powder measure, very uniform charges and the velocities are equally uniform and high.

According to published data Winchester 572 powder will get you to 1131 at starting load and 1212 @ max load. Haven't used it but only thing I seen exceeding 1200 fps. In the hodgdon line.

I use HS-6 and you can get real close to 1200 with around 6.8gns. I load 115gn FMJ Rn with 6.6 gn and chronograph shows around 1100FPS.

I remember getting 1175fps out of a max load of HS-6, under a 124gr XTP. That was out of a Glock 19C no less. Brass was nickel plated Speer +P+ with a CCI primer. Don’t remember OAL, but it was whatever the Hornady load book said to seat them to.
