I own guns in 9mm, 10mm and .45 cal. Skipped right over 40. Some 10mm defense loads aren't all that different from 40, but the hot loads are really hot.

For a truly hot 10MM handgun round, try Underwood 180 gr BJHP; they drop about 750 ft lbs out of a 5” barrel, and a bit over 700 out of a Glock 29. That’s roughly double the foot pounds of energy from a standard 9 mm load in the same size guns. I think that’s about enough for anything south of Alaska.
