One of the problems of coping with the epidemic is numbers. People are eager for numbers to prove whatever point of view they have. Numbers alone can mislead: it takes in-depth understanding of a subject matter area to get a clear picture about any aspect of the epidemic. Numbers alone mislead. Numbers fluctuate based on the sample size used, characteristics of the population sampled and the experimental design. This is why - like it or not - we need to opinion of subject matter experts (epidemiologists, virologists, public health authorities etc.) and not journalists or people pushing a certain police narrative, be it liberal or conservative. We are tripping over numbers served up by the internet as we seek to clear away the fog of war associated with being in the midst of a world-wide outbreak of a disease about which nothing was known just a few months ago.

Is Dr. Brix enough of an "expert" for you?

I try to be broader than just relying on one expert. Many people do not respect Brix because her recommendations change. I see this as being normal in war situation we are in - new information emerges so recommendations change.

Testing that is cheap and can be done at home with the results in just a few minutes is what we need. It doesn't need to be highly accurate - just enough to get people moving to have a better test done and to self-isolate right away.

Legit statistics shouldn't be political yet they are somehow. Proof being, not everyone seems to be happy about any improvement in the cases or deaths, we should all be happy if those numbers go down, yet not everyone is just as everyone should be concerned when they go up, but they're not, the left sees it as additional chance to push an agenda. Seems to me that conservatives were/are concerned about controlling covid, and libs were/are concerned about controlling the people.

"We are tripping over numbers served up by the internet as we seek to clear away the fog of war associated with being in the midst of a world-wide outbreak of a disease" ........I believe that's what the left and the media want, tripping and questions and therefore they want to make decisions for us, instead of us getting to decide what is best for us. How would all of this have gone down if our only source of information was the newspaper? Maybe we should long for those days again.

Unless the experts say the wrong thing, then they're taken off social media, and their opinion is ignored or silenced.

Here, but occasionally There.
Apparently, it could be they type of test taken. This story about the Ohio governor's two different results should be considered.

Mike Dewine - Ohio Governor Covid-19 Negative Test Hours after Positive Results

"The Ohio governor's office said in a statement that the second test was a PCR test, which the office described as "extremely sensitive, as well as specific, for the virus." When DeWine was tested earlier in the day, an antigen test was used."
