What's a good .22LR revolver? Possibly even a .22 Magnum?
I need a good .22LR revolver since I wanna work with revolvers A LOT more as far as good accuracy, speed in shooting, and something just super fun to have.
I would like something with a nice to SWEET action to it.
I can't always shoot my .357 or else we'll be broke! :P
Probably in a 4 to 6 inch model of some sort, plus stainless steel since I'll be working with it a lot and don't wanna get it messed up.
More than likely a Smith of some sort but I'm terrible at revolver models, or a PRE-LOCK Taurus if they've made any in the past.
Also, something that won't cost me an arm and a leg! :P
SO if anyone knows what would be a good option, lemme' know!

It's hard to find a Smith revolver in .22lr/.22mag on the cheap, but they're usually worth every penny. I like my parents 617 4". It's a fun plinker.

You might look at Ruger. They tend to be bought cheaper, and they're arguably better guns these days. I've got an SP101 in .22lr and an old bearcat. Love 'em both.

If you're looking at western/single action, I have experienced nothing but the best of luck with my couple of Heritage Rough Riders.
I prefer the shorter barrel models, but the six inch is just as fun for plinking. Plus, you can pick up most of them with both 22lr and 22mag
cylinders. Two guns in one box.

Friends don't let friends buy Taurus... Ever.

I have an older 6-shot Ruger SP-101 in 22LR and it is a fine handgun. They stopped making it for a while and then resumed production and the newer ones are 8-shot.

I love mine.

Taurus handguns are bashed almost for sport,,,
In every forum I have ever participated in.

And in my humble opinion their revolvers often deserve it,,,
But please notice I said "often deserve it".

The problem with Taurus revolvers is not in bad design,,,
It's in terrible quality control from the factory.

If you get a good one out of the box,,,
It will probably last for years and perform very well.

But if you get one that slipped past their quality control,,,
It will probably never be fixed properly,,,
Despite their lifetime warranty.

Several years back I purchased a 6" 970 Tracker in .22 LR,,,
I didn't inspect that particular gun well enough,,,
The cylinder would not lock up at all,,,
It just spun freely.

1st trip to their warranty center fixed that problem,,,
But there was literally no cylinder gap,,,
It scraped against the forcing cone.

2nd trip to their warranty center fixed the gap problem,,,
But now the barrel was skewed enough that you could see it.

3rd trip back and I told them I wanted a new gun,,,
They refused and sent the same one back,,,
The cylinder gap seemed to be fixed,,,
And the barrel was now straight,,,
But they scratched the frame.

I had also purchased a 4" 990 Tracker in that same month,,,
Something broke after about 1,000 or so rounds,,,
They fixed it but now the trigger was terrible,,,
I sent it back and they did nothing to it,,,
They said the trigger was fine.

A couple of years ago a friend needed some quick cash,,,
So I bought his 5" Model 94 for $150.00,,,
That pistol was and is a great gun.

It's so good that I made a nice rig for it,,,
And gifted it to a new graduate.

In this case I happened to luck into a great little shooter.

This is what Taurus devotees don't understand,,,
They happened to get a good one right out of the box,,,
So they think all Taurus pistols are good because their pistol was a good one

Here's my point,,,
Buy a Taurus revolver only after you have inspected it very carefully.

One that leaves the plant with no defects will work for a long time,,,
But if you get one that left the factory with defects in materials or workmanship,,,
Your chances of it ever being fixed and returned to you in perfect working order are slim to none.

The way I look at it,,,
There is nothing special enough about their designs,,,
To make me ever spend my hard earned cash on a hit-or-miss proposition.

Their crappy quality control makes buying a Taurus revolver a crap shoot.

Buy a Ruger SP-101,,,
Or a Smith & Wesson 617,,,
Or a used Smith & Wesson Model 17 or 18.

You will be much happier in the long run.

Aarond won't disagree with a word in your, post, very well stated. I am not a Taurus fanatic, I have seen and shot some "bad" ones but stick by my statement "if" and that's a big if, one finds a good one they are jewel bypassed by the people who believe all the bashers spout without taking the time to inspect each individual pistol they're interested in.
