A long forgotten story about two "gunfighters",,, It took place in the Blue Bell Saloon in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Back in 1999 or 2000 I was a member of the Guthrie Gunfighters,,, We staged old west shootouts at fairs and events across central Oklahoma. This happened at the Tom Mix Festival in (I think) 2000. Right after a shootout on Main Street,,, Me and two other gunfighters went into the Blue Bell saloon for coffee. We three were in full cowboy garb,,, I was carrying a long-ish barrel 1858 Remington in a cross-draw holster,,, The other two were both carrying short barrel 1878 Colts in normal right side holsters. We were all standing with our coffee at the end of the bar,,, There were two very nice looking ladies sitting at a small table right beside us. We struck up a conversation with them. Things were going all nice and friendly with the two lovely ladies,,, Then one of them pointed to my Remington and asked: "Why is yours so much longer than theirs?" This was one of those moments when a person's brain loses control of their mouth. Before I really knew what I was doing, I looked her straight in the eye and replied,,, "Genetics." Much coffee was spit on the floor that moment. Aarond .
