This is a project of mine--my least expensive .22. It started as a $175 Norinco JW-15. I replaced the original chu wood stock with a walnut stock from Silver Hill Gunstocks. After ten coats of hand-rubbed Tru-Oil, it looks pretty good. Originally a magazine fed rifle, I converted this one to a single shot for reasons of my own. A call to Numrich and some parts swapping led to a very nice, adjustable trigger. It shoots quite well with a Leupold VXII 3-9 x 40mm scope on top, and it is a joy to handle.

Handling qualities partly. The OEM mag protruded below the stock line as so many .22s do, and it was rather sharp-edged, making it somewhat painful to carry with a hand wrapped around the action. I had the original bottom metal welded up, and that gives the little .22 a more "big rifle" look.
