Jeez, Louise. So, would he have gotten a promotion and a raise if he'd let the guy get away? Seems to me like he was in an impossible situation. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Academy gets enough flack, they'll hire him back. I hope their website crashes from the negative emails.

The loss of a Tupperware gun is nothing compared to the lawsuit that Academy could be facing. Maybe not in Oklahoma, but I could see the thief suing the store for injuries in other states.

Maybe they could have had a bigger theft claim and padded the insurance a bit if the manager hadn't jumped in...

Unfortunately that is the way things are for big box stores. Call management, but do nothing. Some of the stuff I saw, or heard about while working at Cabela's would make your head spin. Sketchy behavior, just give them "superior customer service".

Why would he want to go back there to work? He has already received other offers. Florida is the Wal Mart state.

I can't possibly put myself into a frame of mind to risk my own life over corporate property. Sucks for this guy, but he'll land on his feet.

If it was anything else, I would agree. But this was a firearm. If he was stealing it, you know it wasn't for just going to the range and plinking.

So I guess the takeaway is that a thief can go to Academy and just walk out with a gun unmolested? I gotta feeling those corporate numbers are going to change.
