Anyone have a line on a place where I might have a chance at a jackrabbit this fall? I had in mind public land but if someone had a good piece of private land I wouldn't mind paying them a trespass fee for a weekend of hunting.
Lots of them up here in the Panhandle.
We used to have lots of jacks in NC Ok but they are rare now
Just from what I’ve seen, Optima Lake* and Lake Schultz*. Both by Hardesty. I assume you can hunt them out there. Never looked into it. Seen plenty though.
Just fair warning, there are cats down at Lake Schultz. Seen bobcats and one year saw a mountain lion.
(*rarely contains water. Not enough to be called a lake)
When I was a kid there were thousands of them in Kingfisher county, but these days they are pretty rare to see
I can verify this. I haven't seen one in 10 years. I used to find the babies when I worked the fields and took them home to feed them.
Did you work for companies around Hennessey? I worked for Hennessey Tool, Astro, Western Tank, Big Red, Hennessey lumber and Eckroat feed mill
Nope. I stayed on my farm or in Kingfisher or Dover.
