Got a Ruger Blackhawk SS in 357 mag off Gunbroker couple months ago. Ran some factory Federal 357 158 gr. JSP through and found it not very accurate. Ran some handloads of Hornady 140 XTP, 158 XTP, Speer 140 with W296, 2400 and just didn’t get what I thought the gun should do. Ran a 90 deg cutter to square the barrel to cylinder and ended up at .007 cylinder gap. Recut and straightened the forcing cone with a 5 deg cutter then lap polished just a little. Ran some Hornady 140 XTP with 14.4 gr of 2400 and feel like I did some good. Shot several 5 and 6 shot groups today at 25 yds. around the one inch mark. This thing might be a shooter after all.

Effin Rugers.
I had a Bisley 45 colt new model Blackhawk the forcing cones in the cylinders were as much as .004" different in inside diameter.
The barrel when I slugged it was very tight at the frame.. the slug after passing through the barrel 1 time and then stick it in the muzzle end for another pass would slide right through until it got at the area where the frame held the barrel and it got really tight.

NEVER shot good.
I fire lapped it after I made all the cylinders the same diameter.
Never thought of doing what you did.
Mine got a little better but I still hated it and gave me a bad taste for Ruger pistols as that was my first and last one to own.

Yours looks like an excellent shooter..I love the 357 round.
wife's favorite gun is a 357 with 6" barrel I have a German made older model Arminius. Wish I had one of the new ones.

Can't believe you got it to shoot that good I am amazed.

Ran some Hornady 140 FTX with 14.4 grs of 2400 in the twins. One liked them the other didn't.

So the top group got 6 more. Something tells me chamber work is next.

Took a while but got some pin gauges and after cleaning up the forcing cone, cylinders, action and trigger job along with a fitted SBH hammer installed in one of them got both ruger Blackhawk 357 hitting pretty good. The federal factory 158 JSP that didn't shoot very good are now.
