Those XD subcompacts are great firearms.
XDM compact for me and yes they are.
I don't have the shapeshifter, but I do have the Tuck 3.5 which uses the same backer I believe. Use it with my PX4 .40 compact and never have a problem with it being comfortable (as long as I remember to wear the right jeans that is lol). But with their standard belt clips you better have a damn stiff belt or you are going to have a heck of a time getting them back over the belt.
The shape shift's metal in the backer is a bit smaller allowing for more flex.
I just got mine broke in, so I don't think I'll upgrade lol.
i love my AG holsters. I have IWB for my Sig P250 i used to carry. i got an OWB/IWB for my 43x i carry now.

Been wearing the AG 3.5 daily for my 1911 since they first came out with it a couple three years ago or so. I am pretty active and it is very comfortable for me, still looks new. I did change out the belt clips to the J-Type, down behind the belt and a little j hook facing outward at the bottom. Works well for me with my 35" waist and 36" jeans. Much better than the Cross SuperTuck I replace with it.
