And the mass killing of chickens for "bird flu"

And seed shortages

And fertilizer shortages

And the up coming ban on selling animal antibiotics without a prescription

And the ongoing feminization of rural Americans

And Bill Gates, black rock and China buying n up farmland.
Add this to your list. The unexplained decline in honeybees that are needed to pollenate plants.

I Quit,
while just a wee small timer . I can not afford to carry on. The cost of operation, the taxes and the over reach are just too much to carry. Death of a thousand cuts.
I don't see any improvement or correction coming so it's time to jump ship. I pray the countries farmers are able to hang on and have plenty of forks as we're only about mid stream and there's new challenges coming .

This one has some answers.
Spread of the varroa mite introduced from asia, the mite also spreads viruses.like deformed.wing.

Professional pollination services trucking bees across the country following seasonal crop blooms had spread disease and made colonies more disease susceptible due to stress.

The use of roundup has effected the gut bacteria of bees and makes them susceptible to disease like nosema. Also the only factory in the world that made Fumagalin-B to treat nosema shut down for a few years. It is now back on the market.

Neonicotinoid pesticides widely used since the 80s are devastating to bees. Likewise fungicides sprayed on on stone fruit crops are hard on bees who are in the field at the time for pollination. I also suspect they BT used in organic operations kills bees lan likewise bioengineered crops that contain the BT gene.

I suspect that as Timmy mentioned cell signals may have an effect on navigation.. Looking back the year that 5G rolled out I lost all my hives, but I also neglected them due to covid making me work 16+ hours a week.

There has been some work in breeding working with Russian genetics and survivor stock colonies to breed harder mite resistant bees that has met with sucess, but that is solving one issue when the situation is death by a thousand cuts. I typically lose 50% of my colonies a year, a little better with survivor stock (and less inputs) and some years I have lost all of them. Luckily I am just a hobbiest, many of the smaller local bee keepers focusing on honey production are struggeling. Ironically the best way to support bee survival is with local Appstore rather than transport of bees.

I myself sold all the cattle except a few bred cows for future beef. Butchered the bull all into hamburger and cube steak. Not planning on planting anything next year. Continue to grow my own food and raise my own meat.

As you said death of a thousand cuts. Hay, cost of diesel and just to operate this past year finally broke me. After putting a pencil to it no matter what I was losing money. Didn't plan it but why work your butt off to go in the hole.

Never forget that 50% of people have below average intelligence.
It’s far more than 50, and they vote…… Ben Franklin said “when the people learn they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic”….this “knowledge“ occurred long ago🙁
