I was ready to make a $1,300.00 purchase. It may seem trivial, but it was wrong and I just couldn't let that go so I cancelled.
It was just a few bucks but wrong is wrong.

I don't blame you. When I bought my tractor and implements years ago, I insisted on delivery to get the benefit of the out-of-city tax rates.

I'm not into getting cheated. It makes no difference if it's a small cheat or a large cheat. They are the same thing..

Thank goodness! Develop the software that will tell a retailer,like Amazon, which address is in which city limit and the appropriate sales tax rate and you'll make millions.

Zip codes are not determined by city limit boundaries. Two totally separate things. That's the part you aren't understanding.

What I'm telling you is that the software already exists.

See ? It's a zipcode PLUS FOUR overlay. Overlay means that it shows the zip PLUS FOUR laid on a map of political boundaries.

All you had to do is read what I wrote. It took me all of 3 seconds to find it.

Please take your Zip + 4 give us the following.
State (Two digits)
COPO (Four Digits)(County)
City (Four Digits)
You can not do it!

The five digits of a zip code are standard (Region XX + Area XXX)
The +4 is made up by the local post office (They are not standard)

42,000 Zip codes x 9,999 Plus Four = aprox. 420,000,000 formulas
if only 1% of +4 are changed a month you have 4,000,000 data entry changes to make a month.

Some small towns do not have home delivery, they pick up their mail at the post office.
Their +4 is their PO Box Number (More formulas)

Now add Texas to your data base (that has a seven digit County Code and seven digit City Code)
And the other 48 States

Almost a month now and Amazon still hasn't corrected the sales tax debacle. Are they that incompetent? Are they crooked and playing around with the extra sales tax money they collect?

Makes one wonder ...
