Received an email from a good friend...

Would you be able to get an Amazon Gift Card purchase done for me now with your personal funds? I will reimburse you tomorrow. I am planning on surprising some of our diligent Board Members with gifts, I want this to remain confidential until they receive their gifts. Let me know

Problem is it wasn't from my friend it was a scam, I came real close to falling for it and I am one that doubts everything I read in an email or on the internet. Only thing that saved me was when I noticed the email address he was using was not my friends email address.

He wanted me to purchase 5 Amazon $100.00 gift cards and send them all to his email.
Be careful they will try anything and everything.

This was as close as I have ever came to falling for a scam. Usually I can detect them right away but this was a trusted friend that I believed would do something like what the guy was asking. Live and learn, just happy I didn't follow through.

My detector would have been going off well before seeing the email address to send the gifts is wrong. I would notify your friend to take action on their end.

I've had "friends of friends and family member trying to hook me into buying into some of their deals and it's a no go. Always check the sender's email address, I have two email accounts and I receive email to one that is not connected to Amazon and they want me to click on the link to reactivate my account. I can't believe some people fall for these scams although some are tempting.

Freakin outlook has all but stopped us from looking at the actual coding of the emails. Torques my nut to no end!
