I stumbled across this and found it really interesting.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_pistol_and_rifle_cartridges_by_year

I am really amazed that almost everything in common use today was developed over 50 years ago and many of them 70+. I've recently gotten into milsurp rifles and to learn that those cartridges were developed over 100 years ago really amazed me. They still shoot great. Anyway, I just thought I'd share.

Indeed - the venerable 30-06 is a young 'un compared to the 45-70 Gov't, 6.5 Swedish, 7.5 Swiss, 7.62x54R, and 7.92 Mauser :D

What milsurps are you shooting now? I'm acquainted with M1 Garands, 1903A3's, K31's, Swedish M/96's with diopters, and M91/30 PU sniper rifles.

I forgot about this thread. LOL

I'm shooting 8mm Mausers, Mosin Nagants, 303 Enfields and a K-31. I hope to make it to the next military bolt match. It'll be my first. I love these guns. They have so much history behind them. Plus you really know when you've lit one of them off. :D
