I recommend making a few 1 gallon batches first. Learn and experiment. I’m no pro, but I’ve dabbled in wines/meads. Making a few batches currently.

I like to do primary fermentation in a 1-gallon carboy, then rack into 3L Carlos Rossi bottles (no headspace after sediment/fluid loss in 1 gal)… after dialing in a recipe you like, and learning the basics, THEN consider doing bigger batches.

People have posted good info in this thread. Soak it in. Watch some YouTube videos too. Home brewing is fundamentally simple, but can be tricky and complex too.

Be patient.. I think the most common mistake people make is trying to drink things early. Especially meads. Do your best to wait at least 6 months before drinking (sampling/tasting along the way though), preferably even a year.
