I'm a natural skeptic. Common sense tells me that one would have been captured on a trail camera by now. However, IF this thing did exist, whos to say how smart it is, how good its sense of smell is, etc.. I've had one occurance, happened at night, didn't see anything either, but it was what me and one of my fishing buddies heard. We were setting on the banks of the Washita River catfishing around 10:30 at night, talking and watching our poles. Coyotes were howling in the background when something "howled(?)" then everything went dead quit for about 15 minutes. When it howled, my buddy turned to me and asked what the hell that was. It shut the coyotes up immediately. Now, I'm not saying this was a bigfoot, but I am saying I've never heard anything like that before. I've spent 30 years hunting and fishing this area and have absolutely no idea what we heard. After thinking about what I'd heard for a couple of days, I decided to do some looking online because I knew some researchers had recorded what was thought to be bigfoot calls. After browsing for a bit, I came across three recordings that were eerily similar to what I heard that night. I called my buddy up that had heard it too, played him the recordings over the phone. He agreed that the recordings sounded very similar to what we heard that night. Its not something I talk about because I am a skeptic, but I can't change the fact that I heard something I'd never heard before in all my years in the woods. The few times I have told it, I got goosebumps everytime. Even while typing this out. Whatever it was, I have absolutely no clue. Could one exist, I'm not going to say absolutely not. It wasn't that long ago stories were told about hairy human like creatures living in the mountains in the Virunga Mountains. They too were discounted for years and years. that is until the mountain gorilla was finally discovered in 1902 in those same mountains the stories that were discounted had come from. Even more recently, last year in fact an entirely new species of ape, a gibbon now named the northern buffed cheek gibbon was discovered in the mountains of Vietnam and Laos. Until I actually see one, I'll always remain a skeptic.
