Thank you. I torn, I love the history and character behind the wear, but I also intend on using it and I hate keeping up with a blued handgun honestly. I’m always getting rust spots on them after a few days out in the woods. Don’t have the cash to get it refinished at the moment anyways, so I’ll be sitting in it and thinking about it for a bit.
Watch a few YouTube vids on waxing blued guns, particularly revolvers. Not only will it make the gun look awesome, it offers some good protection too.

This stuff is your friend. And don't fret the price. A little goes a looong way.
I have a can this size that I got 4-5 years ago. 30-40 firearms later I still have 1/2 of a can left.

In the end, firearms are tools.

Some tools are made to look pretty and not get used, some are crude and designed to be disposable, others are high quality material and made to work hard and last, and some get modified to fit the task at hand. You just have to decide what kind of tool this is to you.

Got myself a bucket list gun today, an S serial number 1965ish 28-2 Highway Patrolman. I’m really torn between keeping it stock, or going ahead and cleaning it up and giving it the TiN treatment. Was used by the Lubbock PD, stamped number 69 on it too. Nice.

Find a set of proper S&W grips to put on that beauty...
