I have both the S&W MP15-22 and the Colt M4 OPS-22, the S&W is by far my favorite. The MP15-22 is made by S&W, unlike the Colt which is made by Walther and imported by Umarex. Even thought the MP15-22 is composed of a polymer upper and lower it seems well made and fits up good. On the S&W the bolt release and safety work just like a regular AR, not so for the Colt. The S&W appears to have a solid barrel whereas the Colt has a sleeved one. I cannot knock either gun for accuracy as both seem very capable. The Colt is a lot more ammo sensitive than the S&W. I tried out the Colt as soon as I got it home, with a quick cleaning and lube, it would barely feed Remington Golden bulk and when it would feed it wouldn't go bang about 9 times out of 10. I was very disappointed at this point. The next day I tried some Winchester 333 bulk from Wal-Mart and the Colt ran flawlessly, didnt even seem like the same gun. The S&W will feed the Remington Golden with an occaisional hicup, good firing pin strikes but some failures to go bang. The S&W ran good with CCI Standard (the blue box), Winchester 333 bulk pack, American Eagle, CCI Minimag & Stingers, and Winchester Superspeed.
