Anybody shoot 243 ackley?

Looking for some good target and hunting loads.

I've shot one but that's about it. Great custom paint very accurate. Reach out to 1000 yards and well past my ability.

I would start with the Berger 115 Hybrid elite Hunter and see if I could find a load my gun liked.

Sierra 85 gr. B.T.-H.P. Game King...

Sierra 100 gr. B.T. Spitzer...

Either bullet works very well for deer or targets out to 1,000 yds. with the 243 Ackley Improved. My favorite bullet though, is the 85 gr. Sierra...

Deer out to 1000 yards with the 85gr Sierra? Not sure exactly how hot you're running them but it's only going to have about 300ft. lbs of energy at 1000 yards. The 115 pushed to reasonable speeds will have double that energy at 1000.

That particular 85 gr. bullet, on a broad side shot, makes a hole like a #2 pencil entering, and leaves an exit wound you can stick a golf ball in...

In the 243 Ackley Improved, I can safely and easily get 3,600+ fps with the Sierra 85 gr. B.T.-H.P. Game King bullet...
