Anyone ever buy a cheaper pistol for vehicle backup?

Ultimately I decided to keep it for now. Just out of curiosity, what are trading and why?

Yep I owned quite a few Makarovs and CZ83's for the purpose when they were plentiful and cheap, sold them all when they became "collectors items"

I have an older CCW I now use as a truck gun, but it is outdated on capacity and the trigger isn't my favorite, so I was considering getting a newer expendable pistol, to replace it. I'm a glock fan, but don't want to dedicate one of those or pay for a new one for a backup. However, I'm not talking about a Hi Point either LOL.

Some of the brands I was thinking about are Taurus, Canik, Stoeger, Ruger, or maybe S&W but I'd like to keep the cost down. Of those I mentioned, right now I feel like Taurus might have the best to offer for the money, but not sure so I'm asking for opinions.

Its an older post, I am not leaving anythign in car. I was really just trying to justify getting me a glock clone like a dagger or Stoeger or something but ultimately decided against it in this economy.

I’ll be honest I’ve left pistols in my truck door panel for years. Never really thought much of it. My vehicle has never been broken into. Although I do live in a rural area. If I was in OKC or Tulsa I might be more nervous about it.

I used to have a makarov I paid $75 for back in 2010. I traded it later for a tablesaw. Gosh I miss the cheap gun days! I still can’t believe what people are for mosin Nagants now either

I picked up a hi point to put in the commuter civic, but it knocked the gas mileage down to 10 mpg so I got rid of it..

I used to have a keltec that sometimes.got left in the truck. it got stolen by junkies. Even if it turns up I won't hear about it. Seattle police policy is to not tell you if they find your stolen firearm and to destroy it if you don't come pick it up. The thief likely won't get charged as the value is under $1000 and the DA sees f removing firearms from citizens as a good thing. I actually could have been charged for getting it stolen, but cops were cool, or didn't know as that law went into effect the week before.

I just hope that it was used to kill like 100 junkies, but I bet it is sitting in the bottom of Elliot Bay after the ammo ran out.

Needless to say I no longer leave guns in vehicles.
