I agree, a disaster that happens in this country personally affects only the in that area as a rule than others on the other side of the country. People have become too soft. They have their electronics, iPhone, Youtube and everything else that occupies their minds, they don't keep up with current events by watching the news of reading newspapers and they vote...for the person that will give them the most or vote to be with their crowd. Consequently, we have no one capable at the helm during rough seas. We do need something that will pull us together after all the division in this country over the past decade. During WWII people were untied in the war effort and our country became stronger and technology flourished which to some degree is bad. Family separations, divorces all serve to weaken our country, a lack of a father figure or parents that ignore their children who are roaming on the streets create a criminal element at times due to peer pressure. There are many things that have weakened this country, a lack of church attendance, failure of parents tp provide for their families and the government taking up the slack with Food Stamps, stipends etc. Politicians who tear down the country and refuse to obey the laws of this nation and respect the flag, Constitution and each other. It's just mess and no one has the answer-I don't. Our biggest problem is the government who meddles in our lives.
