Ok I first of all am AR-15 and NFA stupid . So here goes my question. Is a AR-15 considered a NFA gun requiring the $200 stamp tax . What calibers are they made in? Any info would be great. I think it might be something I would like to get in the future.

A plain AR15 isn't NFA. Hell, you can buy them in WalMart these days.

Now if it's a short barrel (less than 16.5") then it's a short barrel rifle and requires a stamp.

Mostly 5.56 and .223. If you buy a 5.56 caliber you can shoot .223 out of them but not the other way around. google ar15 calibers. There are more than a 100 calibers. But most stick to what I mentioned above. Another popular caliber is .308 but it's more expensive.

Actually its less than 16in. No,unless an AR has F/A capabilty or has a barrel shorter than 16in then it is not NFA.
