No standard AR receiver is made from steel, it is aluminum. And the "lite" does not refer to the receiver being made from Carbon Fiber. As far as I know there is only one maker of CF receivers, and they're not labeled "lite."

Also, I don't know if there is a standardized specification for a "lite" AR. But most likely, as said above, it primarily refers to the barrel contour.

I think like you said, the barrel. I have a few Colt H-Bar guns, (Heavy Barrel) and see a few that is stamped Colt Sporter Light weight.
