AR lower pistol

Wanted to know the difference between a "rifle" and "pistol" lower. Have a few lowers which I assume are considered rifle but would like to build a pistol but want to stay legal of course.

If not guess will just go for the sbr stamp.

I would guess that the lowers sold as "other". You should be able to build whatever you want and be ok.

Well, they are the Aero Precision lowers and just marked "cal multi". Just hate to get my but in a vise.

Most lowers are transferred as "other" on the 4473 which means you can build them into whatever you want. What's on the side doesn't really matter.

If it was purchased as a stripped lower, you can make it either.

Once the lower has been built into a rifle or bought as a rifle, IT MUST STAY RIFLE. While a receiver purchased new and marked as "Other" on the 4473 can be either pistol or rifle. It matter hat it is marked as on the 4473.

if you buy a stripped lower used or second hand, make sure it was never a rifle.
