You could also consider 25-45 Sharps. The only thing you need to do is change out the barrel on something like a PSA AR15 and would keep you under the $800 mark. The ammo is expensive though but it performs REALLY good on coyotes and pigs both. Its flatter shooting than 762x39. Its a .257 (6.5mm) out of a 223 Rem case

My cuz in AR loves his, though he also uses CMMG Mutant 762x39 that I turned him onto

.25 is a .257. 6.5mm is a .264

6.5 Creedmore is actually 6.72mm, not actually 6.5mm. 6.5 is just the name they gave it. Its marketing just like 6.8 Spc is actually 7mm. 7mm-08 is actually 7.2mm etc

My point was, the Army was testing a .264 round called .264 USA (which is actually a 6.5mm projectile) when recently they announced the new round would be 6.8mm. So there may be confusion on the actual caliber. They were also testing 6.5 Creedmore which writers know is actually 6.7mm. Whether the new round is 6.5mm or 6.8mm we wont know until the actual data comes out

Looking some the vortex diamond back 4x12x50 or the Nikon prostatf tactical 4x12x50 I haven’t decided!

Open to input as well
for a 16in barrel, that is way more glass than you need. A red dot, or if you want magnification a 1-6 or 1-8x would be lighter and be better suited to the rifle

How did I do? What do you all think?

I think you did just excellent on the choice.
I used to toss stones at the tiny .223 bullet until I finally got a gun that shot them and now I love the little hand grenades.
I use 55-60gr Vmax in all my .223's/5.56's and nothing has got away after being hit only 1 time.

I have also found hunting in the thick woods or walking and stalking I need to acquire the target quickly. and I have got decent at that with 6 power.
I have a 6x24 on a couple rifles..But for better low light I like my lower power scopes like 4-12 or 3-9.
Very seldom do i ever need more than 10 power and this is for paper punching or laying prone and popping a critter way out.

You do not need much really but for choice i really like a recent Nikon P223 i got in 4-12.
And i scored some of those Nikon 3-9x40 scopes for 99 bucks. Those are really clear also just as clear as that P223.
My buddy used the gun a few times this year and now he hates his scope and wants one.
