I recently acquired an Argentine Mauser 1891 and I believe it shoots 7.65x53mm drom what I have found online but there are conflicting reports to say the least. Have any of you either shot one or just happen to know if that is indeed the right ammo?

If the one you have is a true Argentine mauser 1891, pretty sure you are correct in 7.65x53mm. I have never heard of any rechambering for that rifle. Although there is a variant cartridge called the 7.65x53mmR a rimmed cartridge, don't confuse the two. PRVI Partizan is the only manufacturer of ammo for this gun that is sold in the US I am aware of. Most US manufactures dropped it years ago. Most of the 1891 mausers in good to decent shape were good shooters.
