As I predicted, voting is meaningless

Your right. That why there are millions spent on advertising, and millions of folks go to their polling places. Everybody knows it’s all just a show. The “Committee” has already appointed the incoming Czar.
no lol the millions are spent ensuring you can get the brain trust behind the face to write laws in your favor.

do you know anything about politics?

may i direct you to any political e-mail leaks wherein politicians speak with their public face off.

https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/you can search the individual emails on this topic:

feel free to search the podesta database for any of these 527's and/or lobbying groups:

so like if you pay a bunch of money to "support" a candidate, it's not like you are seeming to think. like you aren't supporting a candidate because you think this person is going to get elected and like.....make decisions personally to appeal to you. no no, you spend money to group behind the candidate so that the people writing laws and handed to the politician will write the laws in the way that you want. you then either get those people writing laws to come work for you, or you send your employees to go work in government. this is called the "revolving door", and has a MUCH more powerful affect on governance than voting.

https://www.opensecrets.org/revolving/
i feel like you need to seriously revisit how our government functions. do you think people donate millions of dollars because they like....."believe" in someone and think they have the power to make a difference? that's nonsense, that's not even reality.

let me start here: how do you think campaigns work, and what purpose do they serve?

like you realize the only reason trump won the first time, and why it was so "shocking" is because he got so many votes he literally beat the cheat? he got the most votes ever in 2020 *and lost*.
the faces of the people on tv, the media types who know, not the dumb ones like wolf, they weren't shocked because they thought trump had no chance of winning.

they *knew* trump had no chance of winning. they didn't stuff enough boxes. they needed to up their game. and they did.

Or, 98 percent sees different issues as being important to them. These low visibility candidates like Dahm need to be more active. They need to support other issues beyond the single emphasis. Mullin will be re-elected because most of his constituents believe he is doing better for the entire state than the other candidate would do. Just because I dislike something he did doesn’t make him a bad office holder
Most of his constituents probably have no idea what he’s even voted for or not.

Do you? Not meaning to sound snarky, but how many of us have a complete understanding of what votes were cast, and why. We hit on specific events and make that the deciding factor. We have a number of folks that are upset because several years ago, he said he only in for two terms. Most of the folks I run with, make their decisions on as complete a set of information as they can gather.

How did we ever know anything until all this knowledge came to OSA
i mean i don't know why you need to be condescending. you asked me why i vote the way i do and i tried to explain that voting isn't a process that really affects government in any meaningful way, at least in fulfilling offices. referendums are diff but electing shill 1 vs shill 2 is has led our government to become a popularity contest of public persona while appealing to secret dark money that has FAR more influence on what the candidate actually "does" once they get into office.

i at least express my opinion; you can't just call me out and then be like "oh wow you like type a bunch or something you're so smart"

there are plenty of people here who have said things to the effect of "if you don't vote you can't !*#$&" and i'm only saying why i think that's naïve. less discourse is good i guess, we'll just go back to being the silent majority who feels it's all a boondoogle.

I agree that most of us don't know the details of who voted for what and why they did.
That's where special interest groups come in. Gun folks join an org like GOA to pool their money to hire fulltime legal types to keep an eye on congress to see if they're doing anything counter to our interests.
Hopefully it works that way.

And I'm not so naïve to think there's not corruption in that process that I don't know about, I just do what I can.
