Wow... That's too bad you had such a horrible experience. I, too, like to buy local. But time after time I hear stories like this and experience horrible customer service myself. I went thru an issue with a local Ford dealer in Altus (Wilmes Ford...worst dealer in history). After 3 months of complaints and having my truck out of service (over a very minor issue, it turns out) they basically told me they didn't want my business. And Ford corporate didn't give a rat's ass, either. Say what you will, but that's why I frequently shop online at Amazon. If brick and mortar stores would just copy their customer service model Amazon wouldn't get nearly as much traffic. Returning something at Amazon, even a high-dollar item, is just a few clicks with a mouse. I ordered a $956 Sealy mattress at Amazon because the local stores wanted over $1200 and said once you take it home, it's yours. 3 days with the mattress and it developed a "sinkhole" spot on one side. Called Amazon. "No problem, sir. We have no way to pick it up. You can dispose of it as you wish or keep it. Your payment will be refunded to your account in approximately 3 business days." Many times I've had my money refunded and never had to even send the item back. Maybe some of you have had problems with Amazon but I haven't. Customer service is a lost art. These days I'm happy simply when someone just does their job.
