Blake711 comment: "You want bacon grease? You cook bacon. A pound of thick cut will get you probably 8-10 oz of grease and you get to eat the bacon. Then you put it in a cup and store in fridge." Everyone is different, like packages of bacon are different in how much grease they melt off. My bacon grease never gets to the frig. it keeps well out ready to use. I use it in most everything I would use cooking oil or butter and frequently run out with a "balanced" for me diet. HaHa I have a brisket in the smoker now, a little very very thin smear of my last bacon grease binds my rub on well. Like the real "Pickle Juice" for leg cramps or getting overheated in the summer that I found bottled as a sports drink at Academy Sports to keep on hand for me and others if we get overheated in the summer, I will be making a trip to my "local" (30 miles away) Atwood's for back up bacon grease to have on hand when I run low. I am realistic enough to realize it is "filtered" and will not have the little chunkles I have in my fancy grease can with what, 1/32 holes for a strainer, but am anxious to give it a try for a back up like I did with the dill pickle juice that is "real" and bottled water way more than years ago. I am an old guy, can't imagine a SHTF situation and being able to make it very long without bacon grease, ya know. Might need to put some in the freezer with my peanut butter if times get really tough. Thanks for posting, might pick up some ammo while I am there if the deal is still on. They do have some deals at times.
