I looked into this option and decided to drive it myself. It appears that the typical auto transport "company" works this way:
The "Company" is just a broker.
The price quoted is just an "estimate"
The person who does the hauling is an independent contractor.
Once they pick up the vehicle and get it within a day of you, you will get a call with the higher price....."We had some unexpected problems picking it up" or some other add-on cost. "Cash only"
"If you don't want to pay the new cost we will have to put it in storage at xxx dollars a day....it's your choice bud"

Well I can say that I HIGHLY recommend J&S Transport. They were outstanding. I called them on Wed 1 Dec to set up the the shipping. They had the car picked up by noon on Fri 3 Dec. The car was at my house at 11 a.m. on Sun 5 Dec. They didn't pull any shady business either. No charging more when the car arrived or anything like that. The price was $964 from Kingman AZ to Noble.
