Had 2 new discs replaced in lower lumbar an a fusion using 2 titanium rods. Total of13 screws . Opened me up from the front left &below my belly button About a 6 inch incesion there. Did all the disc work through the front. Closed me up,rolled me over and made 2 small incisions lower back. Installed the rods. COMPLETE success. I have my life back. Play golf, walk and use stairs any time I want no burning numbness in lft leg. Life is good!

Pulp, I have a next Tuesday appointment with Neuroscience in OKC for the same issue you have. I can't wait.

A year ago, I could have laid sod. Today, no way. Don't aggravate it.

Surgery should always be the last resort. When you can no longer live with the pain, then it's an option. Bulging disc is not a big deal. At worst, 1 inch incision, trim it off. Ablation is just a burning of the nerve. You'll lose the pain for a while, but it will come back. It's a short term fix at best. In my field, I know all of the doctors up at Neuroscience. They're all good to go. But I'd try a good round of physical therapy beforehand. You may not even need surgery yet.

I've had 2 lower back surgeries for the same thing you're talking about and an artificial disc put in my neck. I would recommend it to anyone having issues. I used Dr. Michael Hahn at The Neuroscience Center by Mercy in OKC. They did the surgeries at The Oklahoma Spine Hospital. All top notch.

The sooner you get it repaired the better. More than likely with a bulging disc is it is probably into the nerves. The longer this goes on, the more nerve damage is done. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

My wife had back surgery last year with Dr Hahn, did an excellent job on her L5-S1 broken bone in her back. Surgery at Okla Spine also.

I had L5 disc removed back around 1996. Dr. Pollard in Enid did the surgery . I have had zero issues . Understand that back surgery is a crap shoot. You can get a scar tissue build up that puts pressure on the nerves and be worst than before. Good luck.

Be careful what you read hear. Even what I write. I had 360 total back fusion 10 days ago with Dr. Cox, NeuroScience Specialists. I had been seeking help with back pain for about 18 months. I saw Dr's at Mercy Pain clinic and McBride. My condition was getting progressively worse. I had knee replacement surgery last September and that aggravated my condition. I sought a second opinion after the back DR at McBride did not take a new MRI's after knee surgery. The Neurosurgeon compared old mri and ordered a new mri and said surgery was warranted.

I spent three nights in the Spine Institute hospital and came home. I am up and about, but if I weren't retired I would have 6 weeks of recuperation before returning to work. I am still in the early stages of recovery. The doctor said I would progressively feel better. Already the persistent pain I had, now come and goes. Sitting in my easy chair last night and watching TV for three hours aggravated things a bit so i am uncomfortable this morning.

Don't rely on any of us shade tree surgeons here to diagnose your condition. Go to your Dr. listen to him.

And, good luck
