Just finished up Basic Carbine at Badlands Tactical in Grandfield OK. First class I've received any dynamic training. Instructor Rich Johnson introduced is to the "safety circle". http://www.policeone.com/Officer-Sa...ber-the-Safety-Circle-when-muzzling-your-gun/

Day 1 started at 0800 with 5 hours class time including over an hour of legalese. After lunch we hit the pistol range for 50 yard zero and intro to the safety circle and positional fire. Then off to the 1000 yard range engaging steel out to 400. Left the range at dark.

Day 2 started back at 1K range engaging steel from 100-700 yards with iron sights using different positions. Then off to pistol for static safety circle live fire drills standing, squatting, kneeling, sitting, prone and reverse back to standing. Final drill of the day involved 5 strangers and myself maneuvering with loaded AR's. At one point I had FIVE strangers BEHIND me moving 360 degrees and SHOOTING on command. At no time did I feel unsafe. This was the best run and most real world basic class for me to date. Well done Badlands!

Also here is a nice vid showing trace with Stubby at 800 yards. He's an 18" Howa 308. ;)

I can recommend them as well.... we also transitioned from standing to prone to standing. Firing in each position on the way down and back up... (stand, squating, high kneeling, prone and reversed)
