[QUOTE="Dux-R-Us, post: 1631866, member: 11321"] Bench mounted spotting scope stand: Made my own for $30, sans tax. I bought the items at Lowes. I only mention Lowes for convenience and I do not endorse them or recommend you shop there. All these parts can be found at any home store. 1. Cheap tripod that came with my spotting scope. Remove legs. Keep base that mounts scope. 2. Bessey ½ in. H Series Pipe Clamp. $12.98 3. ½ in. X 30 in. galvanized pipe, threaded on ends $7.32 4. ¾ in. EMT set screw coupling for conduit $1.07 (2) 5. ½ in. X 48 in. dowel rod. $1.48 (you only need about 3-4 inches). 6. JB Weld adhesive $5.67 (or your favourite glue). 7. Scrap block of wood about 8 L X 3 W X 1 H 8. In one end of wood block drill a ½ in. hole. 9. In the other drill and work hole ca. 0.85 in. to fit pipe. Note, measure diameter of pipe before drilling hole. Your pipe could be a different diameter. 10. Glue dowel rod into ½ in. round hole of scope stand base. Careful not to glue action. Let set over night. 11. Place pipe in Bessey Clamp and mount on bench. 12. Put one EMT set screw coupling on pipe. Adjust to desired height. 13. Place block of wood holding scope mount on pipe and slide until set screw coupling stops it. 14. Place second EMT set screw coupling on pipe to fix block of wood to desired height. 15. Trim dowel to length and glue scope mount into block of wood. Let set overnight. 16. Attach spotting scope and go shooting.
