Either a shield with night sights or a walther PPS M2 LE.
Desert Eagle 50 cal, or SW 500. If a baddie sees a petite woman pull out a hand cannon, he will know shes just crazy enough to use one! Lol. I would also recommend a Glock 26
I would think, about the G26, yes. The 50 & 500, no. Not to mention the fact that a .50 is not legal for carry in OK unless they've changed the rules.
IMHO, there isn't a better choice for under $300 than a S&W Shield.
It may not be the choice she would make but I would definitely have her try one out.
I have a Shield 9mm and would gladly let her shoot it to see if it is an option for her.
A real close second choice for me would be a Walther PPS M2.
There are many great suggestions in this thread but for the money these two would on the top of my list for consideration.

@cdschoonie; my offer to let her shoot mine stands. Big Boys is a good range to go try ‘em out. I also have a j-frame, which is another option. All you gotta do is say when.
