Majority of the time steel cased ammo has a bullet with steel in it causing the range to not let your shoot it. Most ranges also sell their brass to make money and don't want steel cases.

The explanation that H&H gave me was that if the case is steel they can't verify if steel core or not so they do not allow any steel at all.
