Here is what i found out shooting for ultimate tiny groups from a bench or top of a car or even on the ground. The forearm on most rifles are not wide enough to really hold ultimate steady even with a bag. This is very apparent when the winds pick up and blow you sideways. All my best groups and all my guns have improved with a bipod. Here is the kicker most of the time I have the bipod folded closed and rest that on the bag. This eliminates the rocking side to side and really makes the gun steady. A narrow and rounded bottom forearm really benefits from this. If your rifle forearm is wide (say 3") and flat the bipod will probably not be beneficial. And shooting with the bipod open gives me better groups than a bag if the forearm is narrow and rounded. 1 other benefit to the bipod folded on a bag is the pressure point is always in the same spot on the forearm. If you do want best groups the bag should always be in the exact same spot. the hold on the rifle the same, shoulder pressure needs to be the same, cheek weld and same grip. That big bag posted above looks like it could eliminate a lot of the skinny forearm issues.
