S&W made an experimental one in WWII and it was dropped for that very reason because of severe muzzle blast

True, but there's always more to the story, some Marine's actually started all this with trying to modify Victory models, which didn't last long, as the guns weren't designed for the pressure of the little .30C. S&W did try to do this as well but put them up in N-frame pre-27 models. Due to muzzle blast, and forcing cone errosion the idea was shelved till Rugers Blackhawk hit the scene.

If you want to have fun, take one to an indoor gun range. Ruger only makes a Run of them occasionally. It took me 30 years to get a new one. When they are made, they go quick. Apparently I didn't go to the same auctions where they show up all of the time.
