it's a 98 mauser with a common winchester model 70 safety conversion. very popular in the 1970's
trigger is a dayton triaster. cheap alternative to a timney.
Bill Prator and Joe Tessari instructors at Trinidad were very good at making those and taught "how to"
in the advanced machine shop class.

I believe you got it. Like I said I just know my dad was big on the Mauser's and 98 was it, it was part of his email address.
