Bonneville Salt Flats!!!!

There's something I thought I would never be able to do but while in Utah my buddy and I went out to the Bonneville Salt flats. I had no idea what to expect but it is pretty dang cool to see such a large flat bed of salt as far as the eye can see. Apparently you can drive out there and it is not policed and there is no speed limit so drive at your own risk and have fun.

My buddy's dad was tied in with the owners of the Mormon Meteor 3 race car from back in the day which is depicted on the sign at the entrance to the Bonneville "track" area.

Some azzhole with an "Island Tactical" sticker took it upon themselves to deface the car/sign. I remedied that.

I was out there with my son during motorcycle speed week a few years ago. Quite the sight! It is rather disappointing (but understandable) how far away from the action you are when vehicles are actually running for time on the salt.

Last time I was there it had four inches of water sitting on it. It was a beautiful day and the mountain range in the distance and the clouds reflected in that pool. Some couple was out standing on it ankle deep in water getting their wedding pics taken.

A guy from Australia is going for a new land speed record sometime down the road, he has the car built just waiting on more money to run it I think. He's going for 1,000 mph, the Brits ran out of money to finish there car looks like.

Yep I have been following the Bloodhound project, it really sucks that the whole thing went south but I really do hope that they can get it finished up. I know they have already done over 600 miles an hour in test runs and still have a long way to go with the power they have planned so hopefully it actually comes to fruition.
