I've never washed my bore snake.

But then again, it was not doing as good of a job at cleaning the rifle as I thought it should.

They are NOT a replacement for patches and brushes, as I found out last night.

Honestly I have used mine for a year or so and haven't had to wash it. They are pretty durable and you have to remember how much purchase area those things have as opposed to a paper thin patch. One pull is like 200 patches I would imagine. But when I do clean it I would just use plain old dish soap and run in warm water and let thoroughly dry making sure to keep it stretched out hanging or on a table.

Well Hmmmmmm, I picked up one for my 9mm pistols to experiment with today.

I will give it a whirl. I am old school when it comes to cleaning. I did read on the package that it can be washed in a "wash bag" or hand washed and hung to dry. So Jestik, that may be the reason you ran into it not doing a good enough job. I would agree old school patches are going to be hard to beat.
