I don’t think a lack of firearm education was the issue unless, you mean for the parent who left a firearm in a location that was accessible to a small child. There is a time and place to teach children about firearm safety, but it doesn’t replace keeping firearm secure from unauthorized access.

It doesn't take much to make a handgun inaccessible to a toddler. And even at that stage, they should know and respect the meaning of the word, "NO" when spoken by an adult.

Children will have plenty of friends, they only get one shot at having responsible parents.
