Maybe Kelly Ogle was onto something and the rapture is upon us.

Via an internal News 9 email, we have learned that Gary England’s final broadcast will be on Friday, August 30th. At that point, Lord England will accept a new role as “Vice President for Corporate Relations and Weather Development” for Griffin Communications. He will be replaced by David “Scream Chamber” Payne.

Yeah, I kind of saw it coming. Gary was due for "retirement", and of the locals, David Payne was really the best replacement choice available.

This. Although I'll admit that I figured Gary would die on air ... I'll stick with Damon Lane. Of all the weather guys on air around here, he's the least melodramatic. I can't deal with all the whooping and hollering ... If I want "drama" I'll turn to any one of the 857239482059847293 different "Housewives of ..." series out there ... or the Kardashians ...
