Buyers Remorse

Anyone ever parted ways with a rifle and been messaged a week later with a crazy claim? Sold a feller a complete AR with a 223 wylde chambered upper last week. He asked a million questions about 556 compatability etc. I did the best to provide links to him so he could read up on it himself. He agrees to purchase and we meet up. He never tried to talk me even a cent off of my asking. Out of the blue today I get a message that I'm a liar because he went to the gun shop and the guy at the counter said anything marked 223 can't fire 556. He won't say which shop...long story short I told him sorry but he's wrong and that we were done talking. First time in 25ish years wheeling and dealing that's happened to me. Did I handle it correctly or should I have provided more info?

I am not sure what else you could do. He received bad information from someone and unfortunately he is ignoring the plethora of available information on the topic that would prove your accuracy.

He called you a liar and you already answered a million questions from him. I don't think you owed him anything. Now if he'd of said you must be mistaken.....that would be a little different.

I’ve been gun trading for the better part of 30 years, and I can honestly say that I absolutely hate dealing with people today. The level of dumbassery, greed, ignorance, outright rudeness is unimaginable.

My opinion is to piss on the buyer and don’t look back. :finger:

I’m not the smartest when it comes to computers but I do know how to search for info on things I’m interested in and is important to me.

Just me but I would have offered to buy the gun back. And at the completion of buying the gun back in no nice terms explain why I did. That individuals such as him who can't research anything and understand what they have read does not have aptitude to be firearm owner. And everyone is better off with the gun out of their hands.

I once had a friend call me three days after I sold him a revolver, asking if I could help him find a buyer. He said he has spent his slush funds on the pistol and now needed them for a different purpose. I bought it back from at the initial sale price, less the cost of the steak dinner that I taken my wife to after the initial sale.

Can't trust people now days. Firearm could be damaged or a set up to get robbed
