A player writes a naughty word (not naughty for the player though, due to melanin content in skin). Coach reads it aloud, and has to resign. If this is really the fact pattern, this may check me completely out on OU football. I was really wanting to see what Venables was doing there too.

But, if the reporting is correct, everyone down there should be ashamed. The players should be rallying around him in support. The other coaches should be supporting him. The administration should be supporting him.

And, the fact that the utterance of a word, not even his own, would be a situation where I'd be calling for support from all the various groups is also patently stupid.

I agree that those that were coached or had any contact with Coach Grundy stand up for him not only as a great coach but a mentor to so many stand up for him publicly.
