"...The California Department of Justice confirmed on Wednesday that the personal information of those who were granted or denied a concealed and carry weapons (CCW) permit was exposed.
That information includes names, date of birth, gender, race, driver's license number, addresses, and criminal history of those who were granted or denied a permit from 2011 through 2021...
On Wednesday it was revealed that the exposures also extended to the Assault Weapon Registry, Handguns Certified for Sale, Dealer Record of Sale, Firearm Certificate Safety, and Gun Violence Restraining Order dashboards.
'This unauthorized release of personal information is unacceptable and falls far short of my expectations for this department,' said Attorney General Rob Bonta...
[Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims] says it's also important for these gun owners to make sure their home is secure since home addresses were part of the breach."

What could they, Commieforians, do to fight back, "to improve transparency and information sharing and for gun violence research and fostering trust in law enforcement"?

What kind of leak could they come up with that would be a tit for tat?

This was not a data breach. It was an intentional act done by government officials to stick it to gun owners. They will claim it was a breach or a mistaken keystroke by some bottom feeding state employee to try and avoid legal ramifications, but make no mistake, they did this with intent.
How true!
