God I hate web designers.... at least the ones we're dealing with now. My folks have paid $2500, with another grand to go, supposed to have had their ultra-modern spiffy wonderful website up Apr 15th. It's still not up, the stupid demo page has tons of errors on it, etc. I just made a list of nearly 20 grammar/spelling errors from only one section of 6 or 8 pages. Not to mention the thing looks like a form page... old, outdated stock photos, looks like it's literally been typed into a stock page. Not a company who was supposed to be a "national leader". They have done some good work, made a major webpage for a major network TV show, which is what they sold us on. I'm just irritated... they approached us after a competitor hired them to do a webpage, then backed out before the final payment was paid. Now I'm seeing why... the quality of their work doesn't seem to match up to the hype of their sales pitch. We've asked multiple times, repeatedly, for them to add specific elements, like a simple picture (of a cell phone carrier's coverage map)... even sent them the picture. Still hasn't been added. Now they're saying that the majority of the work is done, they aren't doing a "whole rebuild". Just a few tweaks. What a jip. My parents' business is struggling through what is supposed to be their best sales time of the year, and if they can't get some kind of kickstart, they'll likely be bankrupt and out of business before Labor Day. :( Getting ripped off for premium work that doesn't live up to the hype isn't going to help any. <sigh> And I encouraged them to shell out the money, because it seemed this firm was going to provide top-notch product. Now, I feel like I'm to blame, and their business may fail. Great. Sorry... just venting.
