Casting zinc is pretty labor and equipment intensive especially in cannon ball size projectiles. I finally sent all my moulds to RotoMetals https://www.rotometals.com/other-products/cannon-balls-for-pop-mortar-cannons/ .

It is far cheaper in the long run.

Contact them, I think, they may buy your scrap zinc.

Years ago three of us built a golf ball cannon that was 3' long, and was on wheels. We fired it several times and never could follow the golf ball. Didn't know if it disintegrated or it just disappeared into the sky. The one partner that kept it at his house, moved suddenly, with a divorce, and we have no clue what happened to it. It was made of 4140 steel and we had no issues with putting lots of powder behind the golf ball.
