Here is another good one that's in the post EMP/Apocalyptic genre.

Light Out by David Crawford.

Takes place in a Texas suburb if I remember correctly. An office worker, his wife, their two young children and their subdivision trying to survive after an EMP attack. Plausible premise, well written, no over the top violence/gore/sex.

I did enjoy JWW's Patriot's books, but only read the first two.
