Carrying NFA tax stamp

Just got two approved and picked up the suppressors. Now the question. How do you carry the paperwork? Is three pages and part says must be on responsible person. Also says has to be original and not copy but since no stamp is given now, all you have is a copy. What do you do?

We had wallet sized copies made and laminated, those are carried with the items. Originals set in the safe deposit box at the bank.
For what it is worth, in over a decade (knocks on the tabletop) have never been asked by anyone to see them.

I have never been asked for mine. I keep a pic of mine in my photos and I emailed a pic to myself. I’m probably not doing it right but there’s no way I’m taking the original out of my safe.

I always travel with a particular range bag, and keep copies of NFA stuff in the bottom of it.

I just keep a copy in my range bag. No one has asked to see it in over 30 years.

I would assume no one but the Feds have jurisdiction to demand to see it. I may be wrong.

And I understand it is legal to loan it out with the gun/suppressor if the paper work is with it.

No sir, you cannot loan it out. The registered owner (individually owned) or trustee (trust owned) must be present. You can let someone shoot it in your presence, but they cannot take it away with the paperwork.

I have a couple document protectors with copies of the docs required and put them in the appropriate gun cases. I have the originals in the safe.
